Some places are just too creepy to be inhabited even by animals. However, there are always some brave guys who dare to walk near the abandoned churches and hospitals. Sometimes they even get inside these buildings in order to take wonderful, yet terrifying pictures of these infernal places.
1. Capuchin Catacombs, Italy
Over 8000 mummified bodies are kept here and some of them are creepily hanging. In 1920 a mummified body of a 2-year-old girl was found. Her name was Rosalia Lombardo and she is amazingly well preserved, you can even see a bow in her hair.
2. Hill of Crosses, Lithuania
This place is not a cemetery. Moreover, the Pope declared the hill a place for hope and peace. Still, it looks really creepy.
3. Centralia, USA
You must have heard the history of this place. The town has been abandoned since 1962 because of the underground fire burning in the mine.
4. Overtoun Bridge, Scotland
You should not bring your dog with you when you visit the the Overtoun House! The nearby bridge is known as the "dog suicide" bridge. All the dogs just leap off the bridge to their death. In case a dog survives, it will be back to leap off again.
5. Leap’s Castle, Ireland
This castle is said to be haunted. A priest was killed by his brother in the castle's chapel. Today it's called the "bloody chapel".
6. City of the Dead, Russia
It does look like a nice village on a hillside. Actually, these houses are all crypts with bones inside. People here were buried along with their personal belongings.
7. Old Jewish Cemetery, Czech Republic
This old and overcrowded cemetery is so creepy! The cemetery dates back to 1478, so, obviously, it has gotten full so many times that people just kept adding layers. Now there are 12 layers of graves stacked on top on each other.
8. Island of the Dolls, Mexico
The caretaker of this island once found the body of a drowned girl. Shortly after he also found a doll that was floating the the water. He hung it in the trees, thus showing respect to the girl’s spirit. For 50 years, until he drowned himself, he kept on hanging dolls.
9. St. George’s Church, Czech Republic
In 1968 part of the church's roof collapsed during a service. Since then, the building is abandoned. The ghost sculptures were added by a Czech artist. Terrifying, isn't it?
10. Abandoned psychiatric hospital, Italy
The shadow paintings have been added in order to bring to life the tortured souls that may roam the hallways here.
