Consequences of Chernobyl disaster shock to the core even 30 years down the line!

Pripyat was once a prosperous town with the population of 50 thousand people. But on April 26, 1986, the situation changed dramatically both for the town and its residents.

This catastrophe at the Ukrainian Chernobyl Power Plant happened to be the first nuclear disaster in the world which got the 7th level on the International Nuclear Event Scale (the second such event was Fukushima disaster in 2011).

Even though the disaster happened 30 years ago, the consequences are still horrifying. Pripyat, situated 12 km away from the nuclear plant, turned into a ghost town, as well as 96 other small towns and villages in the area. Most of them have been swallowed by forests and look like scenery from some apocalyptic movie.

Funny I didn't realize today was the 30th anniversary of this very horrific accident until I checked my email, and, come upon the one for quizzclubs interesting facts, and, was reading, at the same time I was watching the 5 on Fox, wan Williams used this, as, the subject of his one more thing! I was in my mid 20s when this happened, and, remember watching the news of this on TV! To this day I still get cold chills thinking about what happened there!

I've seen a documentary about this town and these photos tell the same story. It's the real "Land that Time Forgot" as well as "the City that Man Forgot".
