Do you want to live to be 100? These exotic cuisines might help you live longer 10/13/2016 • Gia Bailey
What’s the differences between your diet and that of the population of the places where people live the longest?
It’s common knowledge that some regions of Earth have more centenarians than other parts of our beautiful planet. These areas are called Blue Zones, and people there live happier and longer than anywhere else.
Recent research shows that one of the main secrets of world's longest-living communities is their diet. As it turns out, eating habits of the centenarians are simple but very effective. Western researchers and physicians use Blue Zones diets to treat a wide variety of chronic diseases, and such dietary change often brings rich rewards.
Well, let's find out more about the Blue Zones key to longevity together.
#1 Okinawa, Japan
This place is known worldwide for its smiling centenarians who still live life to the fullest and even… climb mountains! A typical islander’s diet is a lot of fish, vegetables and rice. All the meals are rich in protein but low in calories.
#2 Nicoya peninsula, Costa Rica
In Nicoya, people often eat beans and tubors. They adore yams! They never forget to have a breakfast early in the morning and have their last meal in the late afternoon.
#3 Loma Linda, California
This American community seems to be removed from the rest of the country. People from there keep to a strong diet and exercise a lot. They abstain from meat and dairy products.
#4 Sardinia, Italy
People produce food by themselves in Sardinia. Animals are eaten rarely, as it is quite expensive to slaughter them. In general, the diet is rich in vegetables and fish.
#5 Ikatia, Greece
People from this beautiful island in the Aegean Sea live 8 years longer than Americans. They also tend to be working the land and growing food, which allows them to move naturally a lot.
