It was selected to compete for the Golden Bear in the main competition section of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. It was selected as the Chilean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film where it won in the 90th Academy Awards. It was the first Chilean film to win the award in this category. It was the second Chilean film to win an Oscar, after "Bear Story" in 2016.
