For the third year running (2015-2018) the Ford Mustang takes home the crown as the top-selling sports coupe in the world. It’s been the top-selling sports car in the US for over half-a-century, and now – having been unleashed in 146 countries across the globe – is the best-selling sports car on the planet.

The Blue Oval (Ford) delivered 125,809 Mustangs to new homes, scattered across 146 different countries, with more than one-third of the Mustang's sales coming from export markets in Europe and Asia, leaving the United States responsible for more than 80,000 sales. Since launching in China in 2015, Mustang has become the best-selling sports car in the world's biggest auto market, with 7,125 registrations. It has also had a 10% increase in women buyers, in the last five years, as now more women are increasingly attracted to the pony car.

Available in every continent, except for Antarctica, this year the 2018 Mustang will be available in 6 new countries, including Brazil, the Ivory Coast and the Palau Islands. The 2018 Mustang receives more aggressive styling, an optional 12-inch digital instrument panel, and a reworked 5.0-liter V8 with more (as yet unspecified) power and better fuel economy. The all-new 10-speed automatic is also now available on both the 2.3-liter Ecoboost and V8. The V6 has been given the chop. Buyers will get new wheel designs and body colors, including Orange Fury, to choose from when the 2018 Mustang rides into showrooms this fall.
