'Only You' by the Flying Pickets is an 'a capella' version of the debut single by the synth-pop duo Yazoo. The original peaked at number two in 1982, but The Flying Pickets' version soared to number one in the UK Charts in 1983, and became the Christmas No. 1 of that year. It was also the Christmas No. 1 in Ireland, although the lyrics had nothing to do with the festive season.

The Flying Pickets version went on to become a number one hit in Germany, and also became popular in Canada. In 1995, it was used in the Hong Kong film 'Fallen Angels'.

UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher allegedly listed The Flying Pickets' version of 'Only You' as one of her favourite songs. The irony was not lost on the band, whose socialist views differed from the Conservative minister. The name 'Flying Pickets' refers to a form of protest by radical socialists.

'Only You' is a sentimental ballad with a nursery rhyme simplicity that tells the story of a relationship coming to an end. Whilst the singer knows it is all over, he hopes to be proven wrong.
