5 awesome science experiments you can do with your children at home

Science is the best way to keep kids entertained! By the way, can you explain all of these cool experiments?

#1 Inseparable books

Don't even try to separate them!

All you need is the first notebook... and the second notebook!

Why don't the notebooks separate?

#2 Sugar rainbow

This one is my favorite!

You will need:

  • granulated sugar
  • coloring tablets/food coloring
  • water
  • straw
  • 6 glasses
  • measuring spoon

Why don't the different colored liquids mix?

#3 Flying ping pong ball

And this one is easy yet impressive!

You will need:

  • ping pong ball
  • hairdryer
  • toilet paper roll

What scientific principle makes this experiment possible?

#4 Sugar yeast experiment

You will need:

  • granulated sugar
  • four empty one liter bottles
  • four soda bottle caps
  • four balloons (same size)
  • four yeast packets
  • teaspoon measurer
  • measuring cup
  • funnel
  • very warm water

What gas is being produced when the sugar mixes with the yeast?

#5 Perfect fake blood

Get ready for HALLOWEEN! This blood also TASTES pretty good!

You will need:
  • 16 ounces of powdered sugar
  • 1 once of red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 8 ounces of water
  • blender
  • paper towel for cleanup
  • tablespoon measurer

Could you use anything besides powdered sugar to get the same results?

Hehheh, sweet... I just may try a couple of these with my own kiddos one day. I assumed the last experiment may work with baby powder instead of powdered sugar? Maybe?

I doubt it. The baby powder will not disolve in the water, it be suspended in solution but will not disolve therefore giving different results, AND it would NOT be safe to ingest, (eat).
