An interesting research: we inherit our intelligence from our mothers not fathers

As it turned out, some scientists believe we now owe our intelligence (or lack of it) only to our mothers. Let's find out more about this recent research together.

Of course, a lot of things affect the development of our intelligence. Environmental factors, social interaction, culture, financial circumstances... Hereditary factors matter too. Have you ever heard this phrase,"Our child inherited your beauty and my brains"? A team of researchers suggest high IQ's are probably coming from our mothers only.

What do you think of such a theory? Do you believe hereditary factors really matter? Share your opinion with us in the comments!

My mother was incredibly intelligent. She taught me to be curious about everything. I followed her everywhere as a child. In every activity there was a science or history lesson to be taught or learned. My mother gave me a love of life long learning. Everything good about me began in some way with her. She was my mentor and best friend. I was very lucky.

My mother was very good at arithmatic, and could manage all the domestic stuff that I'm no good at. But I don't recall her being particularly intelligent. But in my children's case, yes they definitely got their smarts from me. Their father knows a lot of book facts, but wouldn't know what to do with them.

If this true I should be really stupid...my mother had more good looks than brains. I have a masters degree in anesthesia......clearly this study is flawed!

That is not what he said, it is however, somewhat true. Your mother must not have been overly bright.

Fascinating! My Mom was quite pretty and also very smart. But my Dad was the intellect in our family. Despite a lack of extensive, formal education, he had a curiosity that was all but insatiable. My Mom was very practical and pragmatic. She made good decisions for the family and seldom allowed sentiment to interfere with sound judgement. It is difficult to compare them, but I always credited my Dad's genes with whatever intellectual brainpower I might possess. Of course, I love them both and they loved me. But perhaps my assessment of genetic contributions to my state were erroneous.
