#1 Johnny Cash was indirectly responsible for the destruction of the condor population
In 1965, Cash’s truck "Jesse James" caught fire due to overheating of the wheel bearing. This caused a fire that ran through the Los Padres National Forest in California. Fire covered 508 acres of the territory. The park was home for 53 condors, of which 49 died. Cash was summoned to appear before court. Cash was the first (and possibly, the only) man who has been sued by the government on charges of organizing a forest fire.
#2 The most successful Cash’s song is a cover
At that time, few people knew that the song "Ring of Fire was also a cover". The original authors of the composition were Merle Kilgore and Cash’s wife, June. The song was #1 in the charts for seven weeks. "Ring of Fire" is the most successful song of in Cash's entire career.
#3 Johnny Cash opposed to Soviet intelligence
Before becoming a musician, Cash served in the US Air Force. During the Korean War Cash was sent to Germany. His responsibilities included the interception and decoding of Soviet messages in Morse code. By the way, he used his military pay checks to buy his first guitar.
#4 Johnny Cash intentionally released a bad song called "Chicken in Black" to break with Columbia Records. However, he didn’t expect the song to become a hit
