Incredible and surrealistic views of the visible universe!
The visible part of our universe has many amazing views that can tell us a lot about the past and future of our world. Thanks to modern super powerful telescopes that observe the sky day and night we have a marvelous chance to see beautiful pictures of various parts of the universe.
The Horsehead Nebula
This dense and dark nebula is a part of the Orion constellation and Orion nebula. Its approximate diameter is 3.5 light years and it is located 1,500 light years from the Earth. This is one of the most well-studied nebulas which was first discovered in 1888 by astronomers of Harvard Observatory. It looks like a dark spot in the form of a horse head against the background of a reddish sky. The reddish color results from ionization of hydrogen clouds behind the nebula caused by the nearest star – Orion.
Black Hole Outburst in Spiral Galaxy M83
M83 (aka Southern Pinwheel Galaxy) is a barred spiral galaxy 15 million light years away from the Earth. Scientists know about 5 supernovas in the galaxy, but this number can be larger.
In 2014, a team of American astronomers discovered a super powerful yet small black hole MQ1 in the center of the galaxy. This black hole belongs to microquasars which appeared after death of a massive star.
Small Magellanic Cloud
This dwarf galaxy 200,000 light years from the Solar System is the most distant satellite of the Milky Way. Together with Large Magellanic Cloud it can be observed with the naked eye at the equator or some regions of the Southern Hemisphere. According to one of the hypothesis, they both will be swallowed up by our galaxy in 4 billion years whereas the Milky Way will be consumed by the Andromeda Galaxy in 5 billion years.
Giant Prominence on the Sun surface
Solar flares are often observed over the Sun’s surface. This picture captured by the NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory illustrates one of these wonderful moments. This giant prominence sent out particles and a third radiation belt that traveled near our planet a few days later.
It is a group of five galaxies in the constellation Pegasus. Four of these galaxies form a compact group and are in constant interaction with each other, for example, some of them are going to collide.
The Carina Nebula
The Carina Nebula is located approximately 7,500 light years away from the Earth. It contains an unusually large number of young and massive stars – the result of active star formation that started about 3 million years ago.
Spiral galaxy M106
This barred spiral galaxy is a part of the Hunting Dogs constellation. It was first discovered and described in 1781. The galaxy is a powerful source of astronomical radio waves due to a supermassive black hole located in its center. The mass of the black hole is about 36-40 million times as large as that of the Sun!

The Dead Sea keeps people alive 9/21/2017 • Stephanie Nixon
Actually the Dead Sea is not a sea - it's a lake. The lake is landed between Jordan, Israel and Palestine. Its surface is 430 meters below the sea level. The water has a unique chemical composition and is extremely salty: a man can read a newspaper while sitting in the middle of the Dead Sea without effort. Moreover, the Dead Sea is famous for its healing qualities. We provided the info about the healthy influence of the lake on a person. Come and see!
