Russian S7 Airlines helped popular American rock band to shoot a video in zero gravity!

Ok Go, a popular alternative rock band from the USA, has just released a new video shot in zero gravity in an actual aircraft! The result is somewhat amazing!

S7 Airlines, one of the biggest domestic carriers in Russia, agreed to help the band realize the brave idea of their new music video “Upside Down & Inside Out”.

For this, the company provided a special aircraft, the Ilyushin 76 MDK (ИЛ 76-МДК), used for zero-G training of astronauts.

Such type of plane can follow a parabolic flight path when the plane itself and its payload are in free fall at certain points thus giving about 25 seconds of weightlessness out of 65 seconds of flight in each parabola. Interestingly, both when a plain climbs the top of a parabola and when it goes down the gravity load is almost doubled.

The members of the band say it was an exciting and unique experience, though rather complicated. All in all, the process of filming took about three weeks aside from the several months of preparation.

The guys spent their first week in Moscow training at the Roscosmos State Corporation center. During the second week they used subsequent flights to plan out the choreography and during the third week they shot the final video.

To get the effect of a single take, a total of 21 flights were made with the aid of about 30 people including the camera crew and the plane's pilots. The video was released on the 11th of February, 2016 and has already become viral.

And here is Behind The Scenes:

And what do YOU think about the clip and the process of filming? Would you like to experience zero gravity? Tell us in the comments below!
