"Naked City" is a police drama series which aired on TV from 1958 to 1963 on the ABC television network. It was inspired by the 1948 motion picture of the same name; it mimics its dramatic "semi-documentary" format. The show is also widely remembered for its closing voice over, delivered by the actor Lawrence Dobkin: “There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.”

The show was filmed on location in New York City, and critics have stated that it anticipated “Kojak” and “Law & Order” in its gritty yet warm portrayal of the city and its people. This series is directly concerned with the detectives of NYPD’s 65th Precinct, although episode plots usually emphasized more the criminals and victims. It was one of the most innovative police shows in television history. "Naked City" put a human face on crime, going beyond a simplistic portrayal of good vs. evil to delve into the complex personal dramas (eight million stories) of the people who lived and worked in NYC.

During its run, “Naked City” starred: John McIntire (1958–59), James Franciscus (1958–59), Harry Bellaver (1958–59, 1960–63), Horace McMahon (1959, 1960–63), and Paul Burke (1960–63).
