On Sunday, February 4, in Super Bowl 52, Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Nicholas Edward Foles (born 1/20/89) became the first quarterback to both throw a touchdown pass and catch a touchdown pass in the same Super Bowl game. Chosen by the Eagles in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft, Foles played his first NFL game in the 10th week of his rookie season. His first start as the Eagles first-string quarterback came in the following season.

In week 9 of the 2013 campaign, Foles became only the second quarterback to pass for more than 400 yards and achieve a “perfect” passer rating and the 60th player to score 158.3 of 158.3 possible points in the NFL’s rating system. In the next game, his passer rating was 149.3 and Foles thus became the first NFL player to score more than 149 passer rating points in two consecutive games.

By the end of the season, he established the league’s best touchdown-to-interception ratio of 27 TDs and 2 INTs, previously held by the New England Patriots’ Tom Brady since 2010 (36 TD / 4 INT). Foles won the “NFL Greatness on the Road” award for throwing seven touchdowns (tying an NFL record that stood at the end of the 2018 season) in a “perfect game” performance at Oakland, against the Raiders. He won the Pro Bowl Offensive Most Valuable Player award in the 2014 Pro Bowl all-star game.
