In 1916, Georgia Institute of Technology posted 222 points against an obviously overmatched Cumberland University defense. The final score was 222-0, as Cumberland’s offense was equally outmatched. No two teams in American college football have ever scored a collective 222 points since then, making this the most one-sided victory ever.

In 1922, King College beat Lenoir–Rhyne University, 206-0 and in 1916, St. Viator College beat Lane College, 205-0. On September 25, 1884, Yale blanked Dartmouth in an Ivy League game, 113-0. It was the first time a football team scored more than 99 points and was also the first 100-point-plus shutout. The second such game occurred a week later: Princeton University, 140; Lafayette College, 0.

In the past half century, only one National Collegiate Athletic Association game resulted in a 100-point day for a team. On November 23, 1968, the Houston University Cougars racked up a 100-6 win against the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. In 1989, Houston scored a 95-21 rout against the Southern Methodist University Mustangs, who were just returning to football after being banned for a year.

A team scored 100 points in a game 12 times in the 1880’s. The 1890’s, that number was seven; 1900’s, 24; 1910’s, 92 (the 100-point mark was reached in 46.23% of all games); 1920’s, 47; 1930’s, 6; 1940’s, 4; 1950’s, 2; 1960’s, 3, 1980’s and 2000’s, once each. It did not happen in the 1970’s, 1990’s, and 2010’s, so far.
