While there might not actually be a Starbucks Coffee shop on every other corner (although sometimes it seems like it), the U.S. does have more locations than any other country in the world. As might be expected, the U.S. coffeehouse chain had the most stores in its home country, with over 15,000 stores as of September 2019.

Outside the U.S., the next most caffeinated country, China, boasts more than a quarter of that number, with around 4,100 locations, and that number continues growing. Over the past decade, the number of Starbucks locations in China grew at the astounding rate of 700%, putting Starbucks in competition with KFC for the title of fastest-growing Western food chain

China is followed by Canada with 1,600 stores and Japan, with nearly 1,400. The U.K. rounded out the top five, with 995 Starbucks locations.

Starbucks plans to open a new store every fifteen hours in China over the next few years. While it may not reach the same number of locations as found in the U.S., China seems to be headed toward a comparable number, if the company is able to achieve its expansion plans.
