Jerry Springer is the host of "The Jerry Springer Show" (1991 to the present). He was able to serve as the Democrat Mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio from 1977 to 1978. He was born in February 1944 in Highgate, London to Jewish parents from Germany. He was raised and educated in London until he and his parents moved to the U.S. and New York City.

As Mayor of Cincinnati, Springer was the highest-ranking official in municipal government for the city. In 1977 when he became mayor, Springer won the mayor's seat with the largest margin of victory in Cincinnati's history. He worked in this role for almost four years. After his personal reputation was damaged in 1981, his time as mayor came to a very quick end. The local press had revealed some of Springer's moral failings to the people of Cincinnati.

Once his life as mayor was over, Jerry Springer became a reporter and commentator for Cincinnati's TV station, WLWT. He was honored on five separate occasions by the residents of Cincinnati. They voted him the city's best news anchor.
