Harry Alonzo Longabaugh, better known as The Sundance Kid, became one of the most famous outlaws in American history.

It is likely Sundance met Butch after the latter's release from prison in 1896. Together with other members of the Hole in the Wall gang, also known as Butch's Wild Bunch, they had the longest successful series of train robberies in American history.

Born in Pennsylvania as the youngest of 5 children, when he was 15 Harry traveled west with his cousin George. He worked as a ranch hand for about five years. In 1887, at the age of 20 he stole a gun, horse and saddle from a ranch in Sundance, Wyoming. He was captured by authorities and sentenced to 18 months in jail. It was here he adopted the name "Sundance Kid."

After his release, he returned to ranch work but was suspected of participating in several train and bank robberies. After meeting Butch Cassidy, he joined the other members of the gang and earned a reputation as a gunfighter but there is no evidence he ever killed anyone until the gunfight in Bolivia where it is alleged he and Butch died. Although there is much speculation about his death, it is generally believed he, his girl friend and Butch left the US after several close calls with the Pinkerton men hired by the railroad to capture them. They traveled to Argentina and then Bolivia where it is believed they were killed in a shootout with the authorities.

Thanks to Hollywood his name will be remembered in history.
