Canon, Minolta, Hitachi and Pentax are all brand names used primarily by imaging companies that make cameras. At the end of 2015, all of the companies here or their subsidiaries were offering various brands of cameras or some combination of compact digital cameras, bridge cameras, digital single-lens reflex cameras (DSLRs), and mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (MILCs).

With Canon Inc., a Japanese corporation, it is noted for making excellent optical cameras and camcorders. Next, Minolta (a Japanese worldwide manufacturer of cameras and camera accessories that was founded in 1928) merged with Konica in 2003 to form Konica Minolta. Then, this camera business was sold to Sony Corp. in 2006. Looking at Hitachi, it is a highly diversified Japanese company that makes many consumer products which include top notch cameras. Fourth, there is Pentax (a brand name coming from Japan) that is used primarily by Ricoh Imaging Company for cameras.
