Does a starfish have a brain?
Starfish do not have a brain. They have a simple nervous system which contains a nerve ring, surrounding its mouth, and a radial nerve that branches out of the nerve rings and into each of its arms. These are what help them find food, feed and find a mate. Starfish have 'eyespots' at the tip of each arm and this is how they detect light.

If a starfish can detect light waves, something like a brain has to interpret what and where is comes from; i.e a brain. Something has to regulate it's muscles and movement; i.e. a brain. A starfish's brain may not "think" in human terms, but to say they are brainless is absurd.

i think the question was a tech one. it does have sort of a brain, just not a centeralize one. there for according to google it does have.

Are we so arrogant that we can determine brain function of every species known or unknown.
Something about the Starfish nervous system controls the instincts for survival such as finding a mate, hunting for food, sheltering, yes survival. As rudimentary as starfish appears to be they have been strong enough to service this long.
