Halle Berry is an Academy Award winning actress best known for her role in the 2001 romantic drama, Monster's Ball. She won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance as Leticia Musgrove. The quality of her acting in the movie received very high acclaim and resulted with her being the first black woman to win a Best Actress Academy Award. As of 2017, she is still the only black woman to have won an Oscar in this category.

Undeterred by the challenges faced in her personal life, in the year 2001 Berry obtained the most positive critical acclaim of her film career.
