In the 1968 musical morality tale about prejudice (which runs at 145 minutes, is directed by Francis Ford Copolla, and stars Fred Astaire as Finian McLonergan), the song "How are things in Glocca Morra?" is used. The song is highlighted in the film by Astaire who plays an Irishman who has moved to a small and overall pleasant southern tobacco town. His plan is to bury a leprechaun's pot of gold that he's brought with him. He hopes that it will grow faster where he has planted it. But his plans go awry when his daughter (Petula Clark) makes the wrong wish as he stands over the magical pot. A leprechaun played by Tommy Steele is following Finian with intentions on getting his gold back.

Based on a Broadway show from the late 1940s, this film was able to obtain a Burton Lane and E.Y. Harburg score that not only includes “How Are Things in Glocca Morra?,” but also has “Look to the Rainbow,” “If This Isn’t Love,” and “Old Devil Moon.” This film is fun to watch.
