How many consecutive Tour de France races did Lance Armstrong win before he was stripped of his titles in 2012?

Lance Armstrong was able to win a record seven (7) consecutive Tour de France cycling races beginning in 1999. He was stripped of those titles in 2012 due to evidence of performance enhancing drug use. In 2013, Lance Armstrong explicitly and finally admitted to doping throughout his entire cycling career.

As a result of his actions while competing, he received a lifetime ban from competing in all sports that follow the World Anti-Doping Agency code. This effectively ended his professional athletic career. Also, it was decided by officials that his stripped wins as a road racing cyclist would not be allocated to other riders.

Today, Armstrong is 45 years old and owns a coffee shop in downtown Austin, Texas called "Juan Pelota Cafe".

Lance Armstrong cheated and was caught. No doubt about that. That said, through his battle against cancer and his Livestrong Foundation his life has probably had a greater positive impact on mankind than the negativity (which was deserved) brought about by his non adherence to the rules of cycling. BTW, the list of cheaters (dopers) in the Tour de France, and also the Olympics, for that matter, is indeed a long one. Armstrong was not the Lone Ranger, in regard gaining an advantage through illegal substances.

All international sporting events have been dogged by 'Doping incidents' and even though that is the case athletes still do it to win because it is considered prestigious.Then there is the collateral advantage brought by Publicising and Adverts using the 'Skills' of these athletes as a means to sell goods to the deluded public.So, the question is why have events like the Olympics,Gymnastics or Cycling still continue,costing huge amount of taxpayers money when in fact we could have annual events where countries could compete in 'Who makes the best DOPE?

Lance Armstrong did not do anything illegal in his 7 wins. The French authorities just could not stand the fact that he not only had beaten their darling Caud Enderauer keeping him from achieving his 6th. Tour, but also eclipsed his with 7 of his own. They found out he was using stored oxigen rich blood to help with his cycling in the mountains, which by the way the English, German, Italian, and Spanish cyclist were doing it to. Then they made it illegal retroactively to the exact year he first beat Claus Enderauer.

No he is not the best because he used drugs to enhance his ability to win. I do not think he would have won all those titles without drugs. And he lied. Good riddance to him.
