How many countries make up Central America?

Seven countries make up Central America. They include: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize.

Central America is the southernmost part of North American continent in the portion of the Isthmian. Central America is bordered by Mexico to the North and Columbia to the southern east. The region is also bordered to the east by the Caribbean Sea and the west by the Pacific Ocean.

The region sits on a land mass of 523,780 square kilometers and forms part of the Mesoamerican Biodiversity Hotspot. Central America is characterized by series of seismic activities such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions which have been disastrous to the population living in the region.

Central America has a population of 42,688,190 people spread across the seven countries making up the region.

I've always counted mexico as part of central America.

I think I accidentally included Mexico when adding up. After answering, I looked it up and found some Google links including Mexico, some not. and That isn't very clear. I also found this: It includes all the off-shore island groups: Central America: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama; Caribbean and Bahamas: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago.
