How many fatal accidents did Concorde have during its 27-year operational history?
Air France Flight 4590 was an international charter flight from Paris to New York City, on the Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde. On 25 July 2000, at time 16:43 CET, the aircraft serving the flight (registration F-BTSC) ran over debris on the runway during takeoff, blowing a tyre and puncturing a fuel tank; the subsequent fire and engine failure caused the aircraft to crash into a hotel in nearby Gonesse two minutes after takeoff, killing all 109 (100 passengers and nine crew) aboard and four in the hotel, with another person in the hotel being critically injured.
The flight was chartered by German company Peter Deilmann Cruises, and the passengers were on their way to board the cruise ship MS Deutschland in New York City for a 16-day cruise to Manta, Ecuador. This was the only fatal Concorde accident during its 27-year operational history.

One accident was all it took for the haters and jealous people to finish off a beautiful plane, yet other air types crash all the time and are still flying. Guess boeing have more backers

I had the pleasure of flying on Concorde - seeing the curvature of the earth from the cruising altitude was amazing. I agree with Albeck Wilson-Smith about the people who hated the plane and got it permanently grounded.

The crash of the Concorde in France was not the fault of the Plane nor the Crew, it was the fault of the maintenance crew of the airport. Not making sure of FOD on the runway was the clear fault of not making sure of things that might puncture a tire or be ingested by a jet engine.

Air France Flight 4590 was the Concorde's only fatal accident in its 31-year history (no other commercial aircraft has matched that record). At the time, with a record of zero accidents per km travelled before the accident, the Concorde qualified as the safest airliner in the world.

Unfortunately, it was also exceedingly inefficient, expensive to operate, and only held 100 or so passengers. It was tiny, compared with current aircraft. Quite horribly polluting, too. That said, it was, indeed beautiful, and perhaps ahead of its time. Albeck Wilson-Smith,

Wrong . There were 2 crashes . One above France and the other one , over the Atlantic coming from Brazil

Always get a good Q and A from SPG! I don't remember ever hearing about the cause of the accident but only remember one serious accident that led to the end of Concorde. Never got to go on it alas. Shame.

I worked for a while near Kew Bridge, on the flight path into Heathrow, and knew it was time to finish work when Concorde passed my office window. Great view.
Flight path follows the line of the Thames upriver; also a beautiful sight to see her over central London on a clear day.

Mike Young, I also experienced a flight on the concord. It was quite a rush! I was sad to know though, that it destroyed a lot of stain glass windows in its wake because of the boom!!!
