All ten of the highest mountains in the world are on the Asian continent. Eight of the ten are in Nepal/Tibet while the other two are in Pakistan and China.

The top ten highest mountains are:

1. Everest Nepal/Tibet 29,035

2. K2 Pakistan/China 28,250

3. Kangchenjunga India/Nepal 28,169

4. Lhotse Nepal/Tibet 27,940

5. Makalu Nepal/Tibet 27,766

6. Cho Oyu Nepal/Tibet 26,906

7. Dhaulagiri Nepal 26,795

8. Manaslu Nepal 26,781

9. Nanga Parbat Pakistan 26,660

10. Annapurna Nepal 26,545

In fact, the top 22 highest mountains are all in Asia and most are part of the same mountain range. Although these mountains are considered the highest in the world, arguments can be made that other mountains such as Denali and Kilimanjaro would qualify if measured from sea level. Problems arise in determining how a mountain's height is measured because it is frequently difficult to determine if the mountain in question is a separate mountain or a subsidiary peak off another mountain.
