How many on-island championship golf courses are located on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina?

On Hilton Head Island, SC in 1961, it saw the birth of its first major golf course. Since that time, it has grown into what Golf Digest calls the No. 10 course location on its list of the world's best golf sites with great fairways and/or greens. It has 24 on-island world-class championship quality golf courses. They are both public and private; they all offer various golf experiences.
