Robert Downey Jr. was born in New York on the 4th of April, 1965. He made his screen debut at the age of 5 in early 70s. As a child he was literally surrounded by drugs. His father was a drug addict and allowed his son to use soft drugs at the age of six. Despite the drug addiction, Downey managed to become one of Hollywood's A-list actors.

In 1993, he was nominated for an Academy Award (best actor) for his performance in "Chaplin". Downey portrayed the legendary actor from ages 19 to 83.

In 2008, Downey played the leading role in "Iron Man". The movie grossed more than $318 million. He also starred in "Sherlock Holmes", along with co-star Jude Law.
