How old must a person be to run for President of the United States?
The are certain limits for the people willing to run for president in different countries, and the age of the person is one of the shaping factors for the future candidates. In the USA, a person should necessarily have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States. Anyway, the youngest president of the USA was a bit older: Theodore Roosevelt at the age of 42.

And they don't technically need to be 35 to run, just35 before they take office.

It would be nice if they had to have age 35 mentality, as well. Baby Bush didn't, and Trump certainly does not.

Jonathan George Willis He's got this far because 1) he's minted and the US is a plutocracy, and 2) his supporters are also idiots devoid of any common sense. Simple, really. Just like him.

Dylan Wade Interesting. What government experience and credentials do you possess that beat being the first lady of the state of Arkansas for 10 years, the first lady of the US for 8 years, a US senator from New York, and the Secretary of state for 4 years? Tell me about your expertise in foreign policy, health care, banking and finance, etc. I'm listening.

Submit some of your own questions. The site uses so many about the U.S. because so many of the submissions are from the U.S. It would be nice to make the information on this site more global! Give it a try.

Proof of common sense, as well. Trump would score a zero on that.

Jonathan George Willis,... If Trump had invested what he got from his daddy and received the average rate of return in stocks , he would have more money than he does today. The truth be known, he would be penniless without the 6 bankruptcies.

Athena Watson If you have something to say to me, kindly drop the passive aggressive tactics and address me directly. Your cowardice and derision are childish, but I do appreciate your endorsement for the Vice Presidency.

Bonnie Hurd, One can be a natural-born citizen without being a resident. If one follows the rules/laws one can also be a resident without being natural-born. The McCain controversy was caused by his being born in Panama to a U.S. Service member ... which actually made him a natural-born citizen.

Ben Totuous, the Bummer and the Clinton's certainly missed the boat. They never reached the mental age of 16 when you know it all..

Ben Totuous, That was a silly comment that adds absolutely nothing to the site and begs for retaliatory silly comments from the basket of deplorables who do not share your amazing intellect.
