Each probe contained one gold phonograph record consisting of 115 images, 90 minutes of music, spoken greetings in 55 different languages and a 12-minute mix of common sounds of Earth. Astronomers Carl Sagan and Frank Drake crafted each record with the hope that extraterrestrials might find the probes.

Also, what specifically would aliens (extraterrestrials) who discovered the single gold record hear? They would hear the 1958 hit "Johnny B. Goode" by rock and roll legend Chuck Berry.

Next, as a point of interest and a very good book to read, there is "Murmurs of Earth" (called the definitive work about the Voyager gold record) by Executive Director, Carl Sagan, Technical Director, Frank Drake, Creative Director, Ann Druyan, Producer, Timothy Ferris, Designer, Jon Lomberg, and Greetings Organizer, Linda Salzman. Basically, this book is the story behind the creation of the unique phonograph record for each probe, and includes a full list of everything on each record.
