In the 1970 tear-jerker "Love Story", law student Oliver Barrett IV, plays ice hockey for Harvard University.

The Oscar-nominated film starred Ryan O'Neal as Oliver and Ali MacGraw as foul-mouthed, angel-faced Jenny Cavalleri, a working class girl who studies music at Radcliffe College. It was love at first sight for the two. The movie takes you through the ups and downs of a romance between the product of a priviliged upbringing (Barrett) and his middle class girlfriend (Jenny) despite the objections of Oliver's father, a business tycoon.

The film, adapted from the best-selling book by Erich Segal, also starred Oscar winner Ray Milland (Oliver Barrett III), while Tommy Lee Jones made his big screen debut in a minor role.

"Love Story" was ranked No. 9 on the American Film Institute's (AFI) list of "Most Romantic Films". The film also featured one of the greatest catchphrases in movie history: "Love means never having to say you're sorry." In 2005, the line was ranked No. 13 on AFI's list of top 100 movie quotes.

The movie also spawned one sequel, 1978's "Oliver's Story" that starred Candace Bergen with O'Neal reprising his role as Oliver.
