In the Beatles song, "Glass Onion", who does John Lennon say the Walrus is?

"Glass Onion" is a song by the Beatles from their 1968 double-album The Beatles primarily written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney.

The song's "the Walrus was Paul" lyric is both a reference to "I Am the Walrus" and Lennon saying "something nice to Paul" in response to changes in their relationship at that time. Later, the line was interpreted as a "clue" in the "Paul is dead" urban legend that alleged McCartney died in 1966 during the recording of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and was replaced by a look-alike and sound-alike. The line is preceded with "Well, here's another clue for you all".

Lennon himself dismissed any deep meaning to the mysterious lyrics:

I threw the line in—"the Walrus was Paul"—just to confuse everybody a bit more. It could have been "The fox terrier is Paul." I mean, it's just a bit of poetry. I was having a laugh because there'd been so much gobbledygook about Pepper—play it backwards and you stand on your head and all that.

‘Glass Onion’ was John Lennon’s answer to those who looked for hidden meanings in The Beatles’ music. It was a song deliberately filled with red herrings, obscure imagery, and allusions to past works.

One of the best songs on "The Beatles", 1968. The worst tunes on the album are all McCartney's...he was embarrassing the other 3.

Smoking too many joints probably brought the lyrics to John. Among the four, Paul was my favorite music composer.

John W Shreve, Exatly. It is strange people in the Daily Quizz doesn't know. It is the second time I saw wrong comment about The Beatles here. Yesterday they answered the name The Beatles was inspired in the Crickets, Buddly Holy's band. The Beetles were inspired on the Crickets. Not The Beatles. Here they don't know not even about the infamous hoax. Weird people don't say Paul died while recording Sgt Pepper's. They say it was in Boxind Day in 1965 when Paul really had an accident. But of course, he didn't die.
