In the scene from the 1994 film "Interview with the Vampire," Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt) gets transformed into a creature of the night by Lestat de Lioncourt (Tom Cruise) in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Louis is telling his 200-year-long life story to a reporter referred to simply as "the boy" (the character's name is revealed to be Daniel Molloy in the novel, The Queen of the Damned).

In 1791, Louis was a young indigo plantation owner living south of New Orleans. Later as a vampire, he escapes to New Orleans. He feeds off of rats, small animals, and a plague-ridden, 5-year-old girl, whom he finds next to the corpse of her mother. When Louis begins to think of leaving Lestat and going his own way, Lestat acts to stop him. Lestat turns the little girl into a vampire "daughter" for them; this gives Louis a reason to stay. They name their child Claudia (Kirsten Dunst).

Next, they all leave Louisiana. They go to Europe; there they learn from other vampires. Things (good and bad) happen to them. They find big trouble. They end up setting the Théâtre des Vampires on fire and kill any vampires who try to escape. Thus, Louis returns to America.

Towards the end of the film, Louis bites the interviewer. The young man leaves to find another vampire, Lestat.

With this film, viewers find that it has hypnotic, shocking, and erotic elements. It is a story of danger and flight, of love and loss, of suspense and resolution, and of the confessions of a vampire.
