Many of the locations in "Heartbeat" were filmed in the village of Goathland, the railway station, "Aidensfield Arms", police house, "Scripps' Garage", and village stores being instantly recognisable to visiting fans of the series.

"Heartbeat" was a UK television programme, running for 372 episodes over 18 seasons, and regularly attracting over 10 million viewers per episode. It was first broadcast on Friday 10th April 1992, its slot moving to Sundays from the second season onward. The final episode first aired on Sunday 12th September 2010.

The plot line centres around the police force of the fictional "Ashfordly" including the outstation at "Aidensfield", their social and love lives, the local community, and the "lovable rogue" character, which had several incarnations over the years.
