Stephens an American Tennis player, was born in Plantation, Florida, 20th March 1993, the year before Venus Williams and three years before Serena Williams turned professional.

The daughter of NFL (National Football League) player John Stephens. He played five seasons for the New England Patriots, then joined Green Bay and later Kansas City. He died in 2009 in a car accident just before Sloane turned professional.

Sloane is arguably the quickest in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Circuit but packs a mean punch too.

On Saturday the 9th September, Sloane won the US Women's Title at the American Open Tournament (US Open) beating Madison Keys 6-3 6-0 and pocketed a cheque of 3.7 million $ about (28.046 GBP).

Sloane spent 11 months sidelined by a foot injury and the surgery that followed, never dreaming when she returned in July that her first Grand Slam win was only two months away. It is a story of super determination.

She began training in April sitting on a wooden table with a racket in hand as her trainer Murray tossed her balls to hit, then she switched to a backless office chair with wheels so she could roll around and hit some more. She was not able to stand until May 16, even then she was not allowed to run.

Stephens was ranked 957th when she returned to the tour in July. Who would have guessed that 2 months later she would be the proud winner of the 2017 US Open Title.

She has also won 5 WTA ( Women's Tennis Association) titles.
