In which navy did this Cold War era submarine see service?

The CMHS Ojibwa was an Oberon class diesel submarine. Originally built for the British navy but sold to the Canadian navy. It was commissioned in 1965.

This sub is just short of 300 feet long and five stories tall.After it was decommissioned it was docked in Halifax Nova Scotia until it was towed through the St.Lawrence Seaway, Lake Ontario, the Welland Canal and came to its current home on the shore of Lake Erie in the town of Port Burwell Ontario in 2012.

This submarine is open for public tours. There is small admission charge.

How in the world is someone other than a trained Naval officer expected to recognize a submarine out of water and without the whole thing in the photo? Terrible question.

Are people supposed to recognize the origin of a submarine from a partial picture of that submarine. The picture shows only the part above water without ANY specific and identifiable features. Really bad question.

Rigged question I got the country of origin right but the answer wrong! British made it and sold it to Canada.

The city where this submarine is now stationed is very close to my home and I didn’t know the answer. I was too young when it was commissioned, and I didn’t follow the news back then.

Australia had Oberon class submarines as well. Now they have Collins Class but the old “O” boats were tops at being sneaky.

Carolyn, I agree with you. It is a rediculas question and without any foresight, one can only guess. I knew the CMHS Ojibwa was built for the British Navy, but later sold to the Canadians for Cold War spying.
