This comedy play by Shakespeare is the one where King Oberon orders Puck (a mischievous sprite and Oberon's servant, jester, and lieutenant) to spread drops a magical love potion from a flower called "love-in-idleness" on the eyelids of a young Athenian man (Demetrius). Instead of this man who is the king's quarry, Puck mistakes Lysander for Demetrius. He had never seen either man before. Puck mistakenly administers the love potion to the sleeping Lysander. So, he becomes the first one to be affected by the potion. Helena, coming across him, wakes him while attempting to determine whether he is dead or asleep. Upon this happening, Lysander immediately falls in love with Helena.

After Lysander is affected, Oberon sends Puck to get Helena while he puts drops of the potion on Demetrius' eyes. Upon waking up, Demetrius sees Helena. Both men are now very in love with her. The use of the love potion creates varying affections in the characters. Key events are altered and will result in a series of comedic mishaps.
