On an association football pitch, what is the diameter of the centre circle?

A football pitch (also known as a football field or soccer field) is the playing surface for the game of association football. Made of turf (grass) or artificial turf, its dimensions and markings are defined by Law 1 of the Laws of the Game, "The Field of Play".

The centre circle is marked at 10 yards (9.15 metres) from the centre mark. This makes the circle diameter 20 yards (18.3 metres). Similar to the penalty arc, this indicates the minimum distance that opposing players must keep at kick-off. The ball itself is placed on the centre mark prior to the game starting.

During penalty shootouts all players other than the two goalkeepers and the current kicker are required to remain within this circle.

Jacqueline Tattam, They still use yards. Saying 20 yards is better than 8.288 metres. Just like a cricket pitch is 22 yards not 20.1168 metres.

I agree that it is known as soccer in the US but to the rest of the world it is known as football and was up and running before American football. I like many people outside of the US accept American words and do not complain yet some Americans complain about words used outside of the US .... WHY?
