Of course the best known Indian Head Coin is the Buffalo Nickel that has the head of an Indian on the front side and a full Bison or Buffalo on its back. First made in 1913 the Buffalo is over 100 years old. The Buffalo Nickel has two types. The first type presents the Buffalo standing on a mound, where the second type has a Buffalo without the mound.

Then there is the Indian Head Penny first made in 1864. It sports Miss Liberty with a beaded necklace and wearing an Indian headdress, with a diamond-emblazoned hair band. She was a true American in that pose. The back hints of the Civil War era with the Union shield at the top and an oak wreath.

Also, there is the Saint-Gaudens $10 Gold Eagle. This coin has an Indian in a spectacular head dress on its front and a defiant eagle on its back. These are just a few examples of coins with Indian heads on them, there are several more. Why don't you try to explore for them yourself.
