Eugène Adrien Roland Georges Garros (6 October 1888 – 5 October 1918) was an early French aviator and a fighter pilot during World War I. He was credited with the first solo crossing of the Mediterranean, then, During WWI, he was credited with the first downing of enemy aircraft by using a forward mounted machine gun using an interruptor mechanism to allow firing through the propeller.

He was eventually shot down and died over Vouziers, France.
