The Dome of the Rock is a sacred shrine located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. It was initially completed in 691 CE at the order of Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik during the Second Fitna, built on the site of the Roman temple of Jupiter Capitolinus, which had in turn been built on the site of Herod's Temple, destroyed during the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 CE. The original dome collapsed in 1016 and was rebuilt in 1021. The Dome of the Rock is in its core one of the oldest extant works of Islamic architecture.
It has been called "Jerusalem's most recognizable landmark," and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

catmom, it is not just different it is a belief of death and perversion. The proof is in their own Koran. You should read more before you condone something. If you were not born a Muslim you are considered to be not worthy to live, even if you were to convert to islam.

Just bc a Religion or belief, etc is different than your own what ever that might be does NOT mean that its NOT valid. It is as valid as YOUR OWN religion. I do not believe in Religious superiority in any Religion.

bvspurrell, I visited Israel and Jordan in 1998. It really brought to life the historical facts presented the Bible.

Visited in 1976 during a military tour. As a Christian it was a moving experience as were Nazareth, Bethlehem, Masada & many other iconic and beautiful locations.
