The first FA Cup final that the Liverpool Football Club competed was in 1914 twenty two years after their founding. They enjoyed their first taste of the infamous English football final but the glory was short lived when they lost 1-0 to Burnley, they had to watch as Burnley lifted the cup.

It would be another thirty five years before Liverpool reached an FA Cup final but they found themselves losing to Arsenal 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.

Liverpool won the FA Cup for the first time in the 1964-65 season beating Leeds United 2-1 in extra time at Wembley Stadium before a crowd of 100,000 spectators on May 1st 1965 with goals coming from Roger Hunt in the 93rd minute and Ian St John in the 112th minute, they have lifted the trophy six times since that day the last time being in 2006.
