Pike Place Market is a public market overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle, Washington. The Pike Place Market opened August 17, 1907, and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States.

It is a place of business for many small farmers, craftspeople and merchants. Named after the central street, Pike Place runs northwest from Pike Street to Virginia Street. With more than 10 million visitors annually, Pike Place Market is considered by city officials and others Seattle's most popular tourist destination.

If you are a fan of good coffee, and Starbucks has pretty good coffee, despite the haters, Pike Place Blend is a long time Starbucks staple. If memory serves, it is Starbucks' house blend. That's how I remember Pike Place being from Seattle: I associate the name with Starbucks coffee. (I'm a single origin coffee drinker these days, meaning I prefer my coffee all grown in one place like Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala, etc. But, blends can be proprietary to a coffee house/coffee company, whereas single origin coffees cannot be proprietary, nor can they be trademarked like blends can be.) I always have felt that the name Seattle's Best Coffee is a direct dig at Seattle's most famous coffee company, Starbucks. It's a very deeply ironic dig, since many would argue that Starbucks is Seattle's best coffee.

Been there! A very exciting place and was a great city. Don't know about recent though,. I read it was overrun with homeless and nasty streets. A terrible crime to let happen to such a beautiful city.
