In the 1995 movie "Speed," Los Angeles police officer Jack (Keanu Reeves) angers retired bomb squad member Howard Payne (Dennis Hopper) by foiling his attempt at taking people hostage. In revenge, Payne arms a bus with a bomb that will explode if it drops below 50 miles per hour. With the help of spunky passenger Annie (Sandra Bullock), Jack and his partner Harry (Jeff Daniels) try to save the people on the bus.

Here this is a film with unimpeachable action. Plus, it has flashes of humor that pass between Reeves and Bullock that are brilliant. The flashes are all the more relevant because people are on a bomb-rigged bus which they're maneuvering through the L.A. county. They know that the bus and all of its passengers will blow up if their speed goes below 50 mph. They are riding in a death trap, and it is part of the film's true background.

Lastly, Hopper as a very smart psycho terrorist is seen as a heartless criminal. He is only in it for the money, so the show can move on without having to bring anyone up to speed on any complicated grievances flowing from Hopper's past and absurdly expressive brain.

"Speed" is typically considered a must see film with a lot of thrills and excitement.
