There is no shortage of beautiful places to see in Italy. There are examples with the sprawling fields of Tuscany and the beautiful capital city of Rome. In line with these sites, there is one place that has to definitely be on the must see list. The name of this remarkable place (village) is Positano. It is located along the Amalfi Coast and combines a great deal of old-Italian charm with historic and matchless views on the grey-shingle Marina Grande.

As John Steinbeck wrote in a Harper's Bazaar essay in 1953, "It is a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly [enticingly] real after you have gone." When Steinbeck came in 1953 to write his article, he found a pretty small fishing village. It was then known only to a few people, mostly the local Italians. In the 1960s the cat was let out of the bag; jet set types of people moved in big time.

Today, Positano is still considered small with just about 4,000 inhabitants. It is a location that has an ongoing utterly beguiling political, social, and cultural make up (composition).
