Under which name did Freddie Mercury release a record in the early 1970's?

In 1972 Freddie Mercury was asked by a Trident Studio Engineer to record the track "I can hear music" (previously a hit for The Beach Boys). Freddie chose the pseudonym Larry Lurex, which was thought to be a fitting name in line with the glam rock era.

The record was released in 1973 and reached number 115 on the U.S. music chart.

At the time, Queen were releasing their debut album and the rest in history.

Great question. Just a shame that there are some people in the world that have never heard of him or know who he is or cannot remember any songs that he sang. I cannot believe that there are so many people who have never listened to the signature song for the Barcelona Olympics.

I never knew this one. But when I heard the song I can hear music by Larry Lurex I wouldn't think it is Freddie Mercury in his early years. Right from the start he has a great voice. I would even think it's a woman's voice singing.
