The car that is shown in this instance is the 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante Coupe.

Production of this car began in 1934 and continued until war was declared in 1939.

The brilliant new design had much success; multiple variations were created. High class clientele would call for a sports version which was answered with a dramatically revised 57S. By 1935, Bugatti had created what car enthusiasts then called the ultimate vehicle. Only 48 of the sophisticated Bugatti Type 57SC cars would be built, of which only 17 were bodied with the Atalante coupé style.

The initial Bugatti Type 57S, chassis 57551 with engine number 30S, was completed in July 1937. These cars became some of the most iconic for Bugatti. The "S" stood for "Surbaissé" ("lowered") and the "C" for "Compressor" (a supercharger introduced by Bugatti as a result of the need for increased power). Its look had a V-shaped dip at the bottom of the radiator and mesh grilles on either side of the engine compartment.
