What city was most often treated by Orkin for bedbugs in 2016?
“We have more people affected by bed bugs in the United States now than ever before,” Orkin Entomologist and Director of Technical Services Ron Harrison said in a written release. “They were virtually unheard of in the U.S. 10 years ago.”
The top ten cities most often treated by Orkin for bedbugs in 2016 were:
- Baltimore
- Washington, D.C.
- Chicago
- New York
- Columbus, Ohio
- Los Angeles
- Detroit
- Cincinnati
- Philadelphia
- San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose
The infestation has spread with remarkable speed. People can carry them in their clothes, luggage and purses. They have been found in movie theaters, trains and office buildings.

That is not what Orkin's site says. It says it's Chicago.

Ric Bourn, In its annual ranking pest-control services provider Orkin said Baltimore tops its annual list of the top 50 cities for bed bugs. Chicago had been the center of bedbug action for four straight years.
The list is based on data from the metro areas where Orkin performed the most bed bug treatments, both residential and commercial, from Dec. 1, 2015, to Nov. 30, 2016.
