The picture is of Isaac Asimov (/ˈaɪzᵻk ˈæzᵻmɒv/; born Isaak Ozimov; c. January 2, 1920 – April 6, 1992). Asimov was an American writer and professor of biochemistry at Boston University. He was known for his works of science fiction and popular science. Asimov was a prolific writer, and wrote or edited more than 500 books and an estimated 90,000 letters and postcards.

Isaac Asimov's family came to the United States from Russia when he was three years old. They settled in Brooklyn, New York where Isaac's father had a candy store that sold newspapers and magazines. Isaac taught himself to read and enjoyed all the variety of material at his fathers store including pulp science fiction. As a teen he wrote his first science fiction stories and became a published author before he was 20.

Some of Asimov's best known works are "Foundation's Edge", "I Robot", and "Three Laws of Robotics".

The Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame inducted Asimov in 1997. Asimov won more than a dozen annual awards for particular works of science fiction and a half dozen lifetime awards. He also received 14 honorary doctorate degrees from universities.
