What is the capital of India?
The capital city of the Republic of India is New Delhi. Before this Calcutta was India's capital until the British India government decided that having an administrative block in New Delhi would be easier since the latter served as an important financial and political centre. King George V and Queen Mary lay the New Delhi Foundation stone on December 15, 1911 during their imperial visit to India.

If I'm not mistaken, Calcutta is now called Kolkata. Cricket lovers are familiar with India, home of the exciting IPL (Indian Premier League).
