The city of Sana'a is the capital city of Yemen, officially known as the Republic of Yemen. It is an Arabic speaking country located in Southwest Asia. Specifically, Yemen's constitutionally stated capital is the city of Sana'a. However, the city has been under rebel control since February 2015. Because of this, Yemen's capital has been temporarily relocated to the port city of Aden, on the southern coast. In 2015, President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi declared Aden the temporary capital of Yemen.

Yemen in area occupies 203,850 square miles. It is bordered on the north by Saudi Arabia, on the west by the Red Sea, on the east by Oman, and on the south by The Arabian Sea and The Gulf of Aden. A few of the Red Sea islands belong to Yemen, including Perim and Kamaran. In 1999, President Ali Abdullah Saleh became the first directly elected president in reunified Yemen and was re-elected in 2006. He was the president of unified Yemen beginning in 1990 to 2012 and president of North Yemen beginning in 1978.

Today and since 2011, Yemen has been in a state of political crisis. Conflicts between the Houthis and Islah are on going in the country.
